Every website has an IP address - the numerical address computers use to find servers on the internet. Our domain to IP converter instantly resolves any domain name to its IP address(es).
How DNS Resolution Works
When you type a domain in your browser, DNS servers translate it to an IP address. This happens transparently, but our tool shows you the actual IP addresses associated with any domain name.
IPv4 vs IPv6
There are two types of IP addresses:
- IPv4 - Traditional format like 192.168.1.1 (32-bit)
- IPv6 - Newer format like 2001:db8::1 (128-bit)
IPv4 addresses are running out, so IPv6 adoption is growing. Many domains have both types configured.
Multiple IP Addresses
Large websites often have multiple IP addresses for load balancing, redundancy, or geographic distribution. Our tool shows all resolved IPs when multiple exist. CDNs may return different IPs based on your location.
Use Cases
Domain to IP conversion helps with firewall configuration (allowing/blocking specific IPs), troubleshooting DNS issues, identifying server locations, verifying DNS propagation, and network diagnostics.
Dynamic vs Static IPs
Most websites use static IPs that don't change. However, some services using dynamic DNS or certain cloud configurations may have IPs that change. Large sites with load balancers may show different IPs at different times.
